RapidHost is delighted to announce their expansion to a second data center in the Thames Valley. This will ensure our expanding customer base continues to enjoy the very highest levels of uptime, connectivity and security. The expansion has also allowed RapidHost to offer an even greater range of business continuity and disaster recovery solutions. As always, we offer disaster resilient systems that will allow you to continue to do business in the event of a major external incident.
The new hosting centre is able to provide our customers with the latest tier three facilities, accredited to ISO 27001 certified standards. The building benefits from its own telecom ducts and a dedicated 5MVA power feed. It has N+1 system component redundancy, uninterruptable cooling and dual distribution paths.
We will continue to use the facilities of our existing datacenter also located in the Thames Valley which benefits from its own diverse fiber ducts and has had 10 years of uninterrupted, 100% reliable service since 2000. It has private circuits in place to allow use as a high-availability disaster recovery site to the new larger site.
Both our data centers are based in the Thames Valley, only a stone’s throw from our new offices. This allows our support team to be on site if necessary within minutes, providing our customers with unparalleled support.
Key features of both data centers include:
Uninterruptible power supply - As well as Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), we have dual feeds and backup generators providing protection from power failures.
The Tier 3 Datacentre also has N+1 Redundancy which is a form of resilience that ensures system availability in the event of component failure. It is this preparedness and redundancy that give us the sense of calm when the unexpected occurs. We plan for the worst, to ensure the very best of service.
Minimalised hardware failure - Both our servers use RAID, providing additional resilience against disk failures. Our VPS servers always use dual power supplies and dual processors to minimise any risk of hardware failure. We also provide free disaster recovery backups each day allowing us to re-provision a VPS in the event of failure.

*
Climate controlled environment - Extensive environmental controls and uninterruptable cooling systems are employed to make sure our servers work to their full potential and deliver high performance day in, day out.
Ultimate security - Both data centers are located in highly secure locations, managed and monitored 24 hours per day. We offer call in advance secure access to your own servers for administration.
Regular maintenance testing - All backup systems for critical services are tested on a weekly basis to ensure they are ready for action in the event of an incident.
